Blonde Ambition

Being sent on a quest for the best “Blonde Job” in Sydney seemed like a dream gig but then I realised what I had signed on for, what if I had to wear to hat for months on end cause my hair is so atrociously coloured even I couldn’t bear to look at it, or what if I looked like one of the reject from Hugh Hefner’s Playboy mansion with peroxide blonde locks? The nightmares started to keep me awake at night...

So it was with slight trepidation that I turned up at the appropriately named “The Blonde Room” in Sydney’s’ posh suburb of Woollahra for my appointment with George Giavis, stylist to the stars himself. I was immediately put at ease by the warmth and professionalism of George, who lead me through to the blonde room where he personally attended to me for the next 3 hours.

George says “Good blonde is like an instant facelift without the anaesthetic!” and he is right! He started with applying his favourite secret weapon, the Daniel Galvin Gloss Colour to my much needed regrowth and then proceeded to leave it on under a steam heater for about 45 minutes. But being left in a gorgeous room with no incessant chatter from other customers, blaring music and hairdryers going a million miles an hour, I could have sat there enjoying the rare in peace and quiet for hours.

George then proceeded to dry my hair after the Gloss treatment and I mentioned to him that I could practically get up and leave now as my hair already looked so much better. George said “Just wait till we have finished with you, you will look gorgeous!” George says many of his clients pop in for a quick Gloss in between colours as the Gloss treatment can extend the time between colour treatments by several weeks, which is great news for people with dry and fine hair like mine that don’t react well to being coloured too often.

After a discussion about what look I was after, (no comparisons to Hollywood movie stars thanks god!) George suggested we go with a couple of colours of Blonde highlights to bring out my green eyes and not go too blonde as he is very keen on preserving a very “natural look” whilst trying to brighten up my hair.

Boy was he right, I felt like a million bucks after I walked out of there, but you know the main difference after visiting the Blonde Room? It was relaxing, peaceful, extremely personalised and fun too! George has been hairdresser to the rich and famous for years and doesn’t prattle on about his private life or quiz you about yours, he is very sweet and discreet too. I am definitely a convert to the Blonde Room and suggest you try it for yourself. I can’t wait to go back to George’s Queen St Hair and Beauty Emporium - tell him Ruby sends her love!
